HIS EXCELLENCY, BABA M. MADUGU, AMBASSADOR OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA TO THE SWISS CONFEDERATION AND THE PRINCIPALITY OF LIECHTENSTEIN
Ambassador Baba M. Madugu assumed duties as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein on 13th October, 2017.
Until his appointment as Nigeria’s envoy, he was a retired and accomplished Civil Servant who rose to the peak of his career to become the Permanent Secretary of the Ministries of Information, Culture and Tourism as well as Higher Education of Bauchi State from February 2008 – October 2009. Following his retirement from public service, he joined politics and was actively involved in the organization of State Congresses, Primaries and Bye-Elections of the All Progressive Congress (APC).Â
In the course of his political career, he has served in different capacities which include Member of the Bauchi State Executive Council and Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism as well as Religious Affairs; 1st State Secretary for the Merger of Political Parties that produced the All Progressives Congress (APC); Secretary of the Gombe State Congress Committee; Member of the Contract and Mobilization Directorate of the APC Presidential Council and Supervisor of the 2011 Adamawa and Taraba States Gubernatorial Primaries amongst others.
Ambassador Baba M. Madugu is holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He also possesses a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the same institution. Having served the government meritoriously as an accomplished civil servant, at the State Level, as well as an astute politician and administrator par excellence, he was appointed by His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as Ambassador in 2017.Â
Following his remarkable achievement in strengthening political and socio-economic ties with the Governments of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, he was re-appointed as Ambassador in 2020. Ambassador Baba M. Madugu enjoys reading and adding value to improve human lives.
He is happily married with children.
